Accommodation photography should do more than show people where they're going to stay. It should make them want to experience it.

Hinterland Igloo is a unique couples' accommodation and wellness retreat in Flaxton in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Surrounded by established gardens and huge trees, the property combines its distinctive curved architecture with a private sauna, ice bath, tree shower, fire pit, cast-iron bath and spaces designed around slowing down and switching off.

ST Images was commissioned to create a complete new photography and video library for the property, covering everything from premium interior and architectural photography through to natural lifestyle imagery, wellness experiences, twilight photography, drone and short-form video content.

From the beginning, the brief wasn't simply to show what the Igloo looked like.

The real goal was to capture how it feels to stay there.

Hinterland Igloo | Photography + Video Campaign

Alongside the still photography, we created a complete video library and hero film to give Hinterland Igloo moving content for its website, accommodation listings and social media.

Creating an Accommodation Campaign, Not Just a Property Shoot

The Hinterland Igloo shoot was approached more like a small tourism campaign than a traditional real-estate or Airbnb photoshoot.

The property already had plenty to photograph, but the challenge was bringing all of those individual elements together into one consistent visual story.

We split the production across two afternoon shoots so we could make the most of the property's best light.

The first shoot concentrated on the Igloo itself: interiors, architectural details, the bathroom, gardens, wellness facilities and twilight imagery. Particular attention was given to the unusual curved walls and large windows, using careful camera positioning, lighting and exposure blending to retain the surrounding greenery while keeping the interiors natural and true to the space.

The second shoot introduced a real couple into the property and shifted the focus completely towards experience.

Rather than posing our talent through a checklist of amenities, we gave them space to actually use the Igloo.

Coffee in the kitchen. Relaxing on the bed. Putting a record on. Reading beside the fireplace. Sauna and ice bath. Showering beneath the trees. Sitting together in the garden. Champagne in the afternoon light. Marshmallows around the fire as the property moved from sunset into night.

The moments between those activities often became some of the strongest photographs.

Photography That Shows the Experience

One of the biggest differences between photographing accommodation and photographing property is the role people play in the story.

For a boutique stay like Hinterland Igloo, guests aren't simply booking a bedroom and bathroom. They're booking the morning coffee, the outdoor shower beneath the canopy, the heat of the sauna, the shock of the cold plunge, the fire at dusk and the chance to disappear from everyday life for a while.

Using people naturally throughout the imagery also helps potential guests understand the scale and function of unusual spaces without making the photographs feel staged.

Our approach is to give people something real to do, then photograph the interactions and little moments that happen around it.

That creates commercial imagery that still feels believable.

A Complete Content Library for Boutique Accommodation

The final library was designed to give Hinterland Igloo far more than a set of listing photographs.

The photography and video can work across:

Airbnb and accommodation platforms, the Hinterland Igloo website, organic and paid social media, tourism marketing, PR, editorial and ongoing advertising.

This is how we approach accommodation photography for resorts, retreats, Airbnbs and unique stays.

We create the clean architectural and interior imagery people need to understand the property, but we also build the wider lifestyle content that gives a brand something to talk about long after the shoot is finished.

For accommodation businesses, that combination can create a far more useful marketing library than photographing rooms alone.

TESTIMONIAL

“You’ve captured the Igloo so beautifully, but more than that, you’ve captured the feeling of being there, which is exactly what I was hoping for. The sauna, ice bath, tree shower, fire pit, reading by the fireplace, dancing, sitting outside together... it all tells such a beautiful story.”

Accommodation Photography & Video on the Sunshine Coast

Based on the Sunshine Coast, ST Images creates commercial photography and video for boutique accommodation, luxury Airbnbs, holiday properties, wellness retreats, resorts and tourism businesses throughout Queensland and Australia.

Every property is different, so the approach starts with understanding why guests choose yours.

Sometimes that's the architecture. Sometimes it's the view, the location, the people, the activities or simply the feeling guests get when they arrive.

The job of the photography and video is to turn those things into a visual story that makes the right people want to experience it for themselves.

If you're launching a new accommodation property, refreshing an existing Airbnb or short-stay listing, or need a complete photography and video library for your website and marketing, we'd love to hear about it.

Let's create imagery that makes people want to be there.
